The series Habitation documents informal housing typologies in Mumbai, The images focus on the materiality of the housing, which creates layers of an urban patchwork. Mumbai is a megacity which continues to grow inward on itself, and numerous informal structures house primarily migrant labourers. The combination of public and private spaces develops in an adhoc, informal manner, without any architectural blueprint or regulatory control. The architecture by necessity rather than design, results in a creative and colourful assemblage of forms and textures.
